ABC Nightline–The Remarkable Miracle at the Mine in Chile

Watch it all–my favorite moment is when the miner falls to his knees as soon as he emerges and the whole crowd goes silent as he prays–KSH.

The kids were fascinated with all the videos about this. Last night before we went to bed, I read them Romans 8:38:

[blockquote] For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. [/blockquote]

I have always wondered what the words “neither height nor depth” meant in this list of the things that might separate us from God. Last night we thought about how even being buried alive 2,000 feet underground cannot separate us from the love of God that is in Jesus.

Kendall — I have spent a lot of time in the Andes and speak some Quechua. This guy was thanking Pachamama — La Tierra Madre aka ‘Mother Earth’ — for his deliverance. He’s your typical Indio from these parts, with one foot in each spiritual world, both Roman and indigenous.

Tell me if I’m wrong, but I believe the guy thanking Pachamama was the Bolivian, and this one (Mario Gomez) was thanking God in Jesus Christ. He gave Roman Catholic style support to the faith of the miners, putting up shrines for the saints.
